Coppelia
by Delibes
at St. Margaret's Village Hall
7th to 10th August 2008
What better way to spend a summer's day than to visit one of Kent's most beautifully located villages, to enjoy a meal in The Bay Restaurant, to sip champagne in the rose garden outside then wander over to the village hall to watch a fully staged ballet performed by professional actors (National Theatre actor Granville Saxton will play Dr. Coppelius) and dancers augmented by talented young local performers.
Sounds idyllic doesn't it? Well that is what is on offer this August in St. Margaret's-at-Cliffe. A new company, The St. Margaret's Festival Ballet, (the creation of leading professional choreographer Sarah Dean who just happens to live in the village!), will present Delibes' Coppelia for five performances from 7th to 10th August. Fully staged and costumed, Coppelia is a joyous and witty celebration of love, with a breathtaking score by the French master composer Léo Delibes.
Patrons - Susan Hampshire, Nigel Havers and Miriam Margolyes
Tickets £12
Children & OAP's £8
